“If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you". Does this verse describe a meditative practice?

Transcript of answer

It is beyond just a meditation. It's a mental reorientation. If you abide in me and my words abide in you, you shall ask what you will, and it shall be done unto you. What does this mean? There's a saying I heard several years ago that I never forgot because it gave me deep insight into the ways of God. The person said that if you desire everything that God desires, then every desire you have will always come to pass.

The reason why our desires and will don't come to pass whenever we will is because what we desire and what we “will” are contrary to the desires and will of God. Think of yourself like someone inside an ocean. If you swim in the current of the ocean (in the right direction), your speed will be amplified, and you will move fast. However, when you go against the tide, oh, that's when you begin to struggle. It becomes tough, and you might not even make it to the shore because you are going against the wind.

So Jesus Christ is teaching that if my words abide in you—my statutes, my values, my principles, my will—if those are the things that govern your existence, that are the centre of your gravity, everything you desire will come to pass.

If God wills for you, “Hey, listen to me. I need you to stay in this place for the next 6 months and be humble. There's something I want you to learn." If you “will” that for yourself, then that wish will come to pass, and for six months, you will be humble and you will gain what God wants you to gain.

The reason why Jesus Christ's miracles were so consistent was because everything he did was what his father was doing. He was never against the will of God. So if you saw a person sick and he healed them, it's because God was healing them. And that's why he was always a channel, a portal for the life and power of God. He always desired what God desired.

If we desire what God desires, our desires will always come to pass, and anything you ask of God, he will give to you because you have asked him what he wants to give to you. If a child says to a parent, Daddy, daddy, daddy, daddy, today I only want to eat sugar. Your dad will reject you now. Because it's not good for you. But if you ask him, Daddy, Daddy, can I have some carrots with some cabbages? Well, I don't know about that, but hallelujah.

Carrots and cabbages. You know, I am always happy. Yes, my boy. You can have some carrots and cabbage. But let them mix. So carrots, cabbage, some meat, and maybe a bit of rice. Your daddy will give it to you, won't he? Because that's something he wants to give to you.

The issue is when you want for yourself something your father doesn't want for you. And believe me, what your heavenly father doesn't want for you, you don't want for yourself. The thing is that you don't know that just yet. God bless you.
