How does one build a consistent prayer life?

How does one build a consistent prayer life? Cause sometimes I'll be able to pray for 1 hour and sometimes I struggle with praying for 10 minutes
It is well with you, Miracle. Let me start by saying that one of the easiest and best ways to develop a sense of consistency in regard to any particular thing in life, the first advice that we'll be giving, is to band ourselves with a group of people who are already walking in that line, right?
And you see, personally, when it comes to prayer, especially, nothing can be greater support for your prayer life than being a part of a community that prays. Are you following me? There is no other way.
It's like trying to be a dancer. The best way to be a dancer is to just hang around people that dance a lot. If you want to be fit, go to the gym. It's much easier to walk out of the gym when everybody's sweating and dropping iron than to work out by your lonesome in your house, alright? Because there's something called synergy.
And glory be to God, as technology will have it, a lot of ministries, let's say perchance one goes to a church where, I don't know, they pray for only one minute a day or something like that. On the internet, there are a lot of prayer ministries that share their prayer meetings online that you can connect with and listen to, and so forth.
And even though you might not be there physically, you can follow them religiously on the internet, right? And it will severely help your prayer life. And that's a very, very good foundation, right? By banding yourself with people who are already very prayerful, who are already walking in that same line as well.
Beyond that, prayer is also a discipline, right? Just like Bible study. It's not always just based on feelings, right? And a lot of times, especially when we engage God in prayer, you know, some days, because the Holy Spirit also helps us to pray.
I'm going to talk a little bit about this thing called prayer throughout this course, right? And the point of praying in itself and what even the concept of time has to do with this thing called prayer, right?
Prayer is a discipline; it is a sacrifice we make and offer unto God as an offering. Where I could be watching Netflix with my time, I could be devoting my attention to plantain chips or Desperate Housewives, but instead of paying my attention, paying my mind to Amazon Prime or YouTube or InstaBlog or whatever it is that we normally pay our attention and mind to, because these things are currencies, right? I'm paying it to God. Are you following me? Prayer is not just about God giving me something. It's also about attention. But I'll talk about this more in depth as we proceed.
It's also a time when we say, Lord, I'm paying my attention to you. And sometimes, in the beginning, prayer begins with our effort, right? But after a while, when true connectivity happens, right? The Holy Spirit takes over and begins to help us to pray as well. But you see, most of the time, there's a place where we make the initial step and move towards the Lord in prayer.
But above all that, and like I said, we'll talk about this a lot more as the weeks unfold. The best way to build a prayer life, a study life, a consecrated life, or any kind of life is to band yourself with people who are on that journey. God bless you.
And also to add, setting aside the time to pray, making a prayer commitment with the Lord, just like the way we make, you know, a commitment to meet someone for lunch or a business date or something like that. When we make a commitment, right? And we know that this particular time I've cancelled it out to pray. It helps with that discipline to make that a lifestyle.
So sometimes, you know, these are the little things we need to put into our lives as very strong pillars, right? To keep us in the right direction. So don't let your prayer life be arbitrary. Yes, you can pray at any time of the day, but it should be a time when you say, God, I'm making an agreement with you that at this time, I'm going to meet you every day. That's also a very strong way to build your prayer life—by making a commitment.
In this age and time, we love to have undefined relationships, arbitrary things that we can jump out at any time, but with God, there needs to be a degree of commitment. And a lot of times, when it becomes clear to the Lord that you have made a commitment to him, you'll be amazed at how God begins to commit himself more to you in turn as well.
It is well with you, friend.
