Can the enemy read our thoughts? I’ve heard they can. So if that is true, why do our minds wander so terribly the moment we try to be still, quiet or meditate?

Transcript of answer

The Lord is with you, and I say to you, you know, because many of us have not really developed our internal faculties of perception, there is this general belief that my thoughts, my feelings are isolated within. Well, some might think that thoughts are in their brain and things like that, but such is not the case.

Have you ever had an experience where a person enters the room? They don't say anything, but you just feel their emotion, whether they are grieved, whether they are sad, or maybe they are full of joy. And once they walk in, without even saying anything, the energy that they have inside of themselves, you can feel it. Yeah, because in the realm of the spirit, our thoughts and feelings are not as isolated as we think. Are you following me?

In the realm of the spirit, a simple example: if you develop your, well, your spiritual antenna, if you enter any room, literally, you can have a general idea of what people are thinking about you. I mean, we see this with Jesus Christ a lot; a lot of times the Pharisees will be thinking, and he'll respond to their thoughts. This is not something that only Jesus Christ can do; this is something that almost anybody can do if they develop their spiritual antenna. It is a very normal phenomenon. Are you following me?

Where almost anybody can perceive someone else's thoughts. I mean, in general, I'm sure in life, just prosecuting through life, sometimes you can meet a person, and even though they say one thing, you can perceive that their intention is a bit adverse to what they are saying. How do you perceive that? How are you able to tell their intention even though their words are saying something completely opposite? It means that we have deeper faculties of perception that are immediately apparent. Are you following me?

Now, if we as human beings are able to perceive something like this from the average person, how much more beings that are purely spiritual? Are you following me? Of course, they can know what you're thinking. A lot of times, they are even the ones that are trying to influence the thought, and we'll talk very deeply on this, especially in module 3—awareness—but we'll be talking about it a little bit, but in module 3, that's when we're really going to go very deep into this thing called, well, awareness, hallelujah.

But yes, the enemy can certainly read our thoughts as well as a host of all manner of spirits and whatnot. Beyond that, when we talk about the mind wandering, especially when you want to be still, quiet, and meditate, it is not all the time that it is an evil spirit matter. Are you following me? Every single one of us is a product of our live practices, and we live in a world where, unconsciously, we have trained ourselves how to be distracted. Are you following me?

It's something that has not become an automatic behavior for the average person to be distracted. I'm watching food, I'm watching a TV show, and I'm eating my food; I'm talking to my spouse, and I'm chatting on my phone. I am in a classroom, and I'm thinking about the love of my life. Over the years, little by little, we have developed a very strong practice of distraction so that the day you say you want to now try to focus, your mind is like, "Excuse me, what was going on? This is not what we're used to. Oh no, no, you can't do it like this."

And that's the general, you know, summary of this thing called distraction. Yeah, I mean, there's spiritual influence and all of that. There's that, but before we even go into all of that, we need to come to terms with the fact that we have not used our minds very well. And because of that, there's a need for us to be very intentional about grooming, pruning, and teaching the mind how to focus again.
