So my question is this: We are Christians, but early this year we went to visit our granny at her place, and when we got there, this man we met there started saying things like he was prophesying, so he started this thing about me getting pregnant, and the funny part is I have never dated nor been in a relationship.

At a point it stopped, and now today again my granny went for prayers somewhere again, and it's the same old story in as much as I'm trying to ignore it, but I'm really scared.

Transcript of answer

It is very well with you, my friend. What can I say? There are many ways one can engage with what you have shared here, right? I mean, truth be told, we're definitely in a time when there are a lot of people masquerading as prophets and prophetic people. I mean, it's not as if they don't have the ability to see the future and things like that. The question is, by what spirit are they uttering, right? Because to prophesy is not so much about telling the future as it is about declaring the word of God and being a channel and a vehicle for his life to enter into the world.

So I don't know the people that your grandmother must have met. I don't know. There's a possibility that this could be people who, you know, because, I mean, people who are a bit elderly are usually more vulnerable to things like this, you know, especially in this country, right? You know, the grandma era and those people who were born in that time were quote-unquote suckers for the prophetic, for, you know, anything that seems a bit supernatural and whatnot.

So I don't know. I will say this: spiritually speaking, pregnancy doesn't just talk about a person physically carrying a child, right? Because being pregnant is about carrying something. It could be a vision, it could be an assignment, it could be a dream; you know, it talks about something that ought to be birthed into the world, something that is about to be born, right? And so in that sense, pregnancy can take on a myriad of meanings, right?

And of course, like you said, you know, you've never dated anyone before; you're not dating anyone before. So this seems a bit misplaced, right? And just in case such people happen to be, quote-unquote, well, deliverers of God's message, whether or not they interpreted it properly, because sometimes when people see, are you following me? And that's the issue with the prophetic in Nigeria; for example, we have a lot of seers, a lot of people who can look into the spirit, but because they replaced their spiritual sight for rootedness in the word of God, all manner of misinterpretations and misconstructions have happened, right? But time will not permit me to go too deep into all of that.

But let's just say, for example, that maybe indeed, both independent people saw you as pregnant. Let's say, even if that's what they saw or whatever, it's worthwhile to even pray to God and ask him, Father, what am I pregnant with? What do you want me to carry? You know, Paul spoke about the early church, and he said, "My little children, who I labor once more, I go through birth pangs once more, that Christ may be formed in you."

From Paul's point of view, those churches that he was ministering in, that he was discipling, were like a child he was pregnant with. And when he used the word, I labor once more, he said once more, because the first labor he had was the labor of birthing Christ out of himself. But when we have achieved that and we reach a particular level of spiritual growth, our next labor is for the same Christ that was born out of us; we're laboring to bring it out of someone else, amen?

So pregnancy, I mean, even James chapter one talks about how when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin, and sin fully grown leads to death. So the concept of conception and pregnancy is not only physical; it's also spiritual. The question is, "What am I carrying? What am I pregnant with? What does it relate to?" And it's worthwhile to even pray to the Lord to see if there's any truth there. Is there anything that you are impressing in my heart? Anything that I'm carrying? Anything that I'm pregnant with? Cause me to see it. And even a bit of reflection as well to begin to contemplate things that have been so heavy upon you in recent times, right? Like a pregnancy that has to come out.

So something like this, I'm just giving you information for your own personal research, reflection, and contemplation. Ultimately, it's you that will be able to flesh it out properly. But I'll say, don't be afraid, don't worry; you know, maybe you're thinking, "Oh my God, is something going to happen? Am I going to get pregnant? I am not dating anyone. Does it mean that, you know, someone's going to break into my house?" Not highly unlikely, my dear. So do as I've just said, and it will be well with you. God bless you.
